Grade 3
Ghorepani Trek is one of the most
popular treks in Nepal. It is a moderate grade 2 trek,
in other words a reasonably fit person can do it. The
trek starts from Pokhara (203 kms.west of Kathmandu),
traverses through the foothills of Annapurna Himalayan
range and offers beautiful views of the Annapurna Massif,
Machapuchare and Dhaulagiri Himalayan peaks. The Gurung
villages of Ghandrung and Chomrong add scenic charm
to our trek. The main attraction of this trek is the
Poon Hill, the highest point on the trek. In the early
morning, the sunrise over the Himalayas is stunning
from here. Poonhill offers the best views of the Western
Himalayan range. The destinations throughout the trek
are local villages where we will be camping for the
nights. We return to Pokhara through rhododendron forests
and terraced rice fields.
Annapurna Sanctuary is a natural amphitheater
surrounded by mighty Himalayan peaks such as the Annapurnas-
with one of them, Annapurna 1, above 8000m. The highlights
of this trek are two base camps: Machhapuchhare Base
Camp (3703 m) and Annapurna Base Camp (4070 m). These
base camps make up the famous Annapurna Sanctuary. Thus,
surrounded by the mighty Himalayan peaks one can imagine
how fabulous 360 degrees of mountain views must be from
the sanctuary. Enroute the natural landscape of the
country with its foothills inhabited by ethnic settlements
and mountains as backdrop is highly panoramic. In short
the trip is a natural and cultural experience.

Himalayan views and provides an insight into local foothill
culture.
