of time providing you enjoyment of our natural and cultural

Ghandrung Teahouse
trek
2 nights/ 3 days
Grade 2 Ghandrung
teahouse trek is a short trek in the foothills of the
Annapurna Himalayan range. The trek offers panaromic
views of the Annapurna Massif, Machhapuchhare , Manaslu,
Dhaulagiri and a host of other peaks. It is a moderate
grade 2 trek, in other words a reasonably fit person
can do it. The highpoint of the trek is the visit to
the village of Ghandrung. It is inhabited by the Gurungs,
the people who are famous as the Gorkhas in the British
army. Ghandrung, the second largest village of the Gurungs
looks beautiful with its orderly rows of slate-roofed
houses clustered on a canyon wall.
The route on the trek goes through
many settlements of hilly people, thus offering an insight
into the culture of the region. The prevalent religion
the inhabitants follow is either Hinduism or Buddhism.
MARCO POLO’S TEA HOUSE TREK:
These treks are done in popular and
well-travelled areas. The tea houses are usually small
basic lodges offering accommodation and food for travellers.
We rely on these tea houses for food and shelter and
thus require minimal equipment. Our experienced guides
will select the best teahouse in the villages, and if
required, will go ahead to find shelter in peak season.
The tea houses are also a meeting point for trekkers
from various parts of the world. These treks are economical,
suitable for both youth and budget tourists.
A teahouse trek day starts with your
guide knocking at your door in a teahouse at around
6:00 am in the morning. The breakfast served in the
teahouse restaurant is usually at 7:00 am allowing you
enough time to washup and pack up. The trek starts normally
begins at 8:00 am. You will be accompanied by your guide
and a porter. In average 3 hours of walking is covered
before lunch at a teahouse usually in a settlement enroute.
After lunch normally 3 more hours are covered before
reaching the destination of the day. At the destination
the guide selects an ideal teahouse and allocates a
room/s for you. Dinner in the teahouse restaurant is
around 7:00 pm before retiring for the night.
Our teahouse trekking packages are
supported by highly experienced Sherpa guides and reliable
porters. Our staffs are knowledgeable about and conscious
of environmental protection.

Ghandrung Trek description:
| Day
01: |
| The guide will meet you at
your hotel at 8am and take you to Phedi, from where
the trek starts. Trekking in Nepal normally means
ascending uphill and descending downhill alternately.
Likewise on this trek initially the trail takes
one uphill to reach Dhampus. Dhampus offers magnificent
view of Machhapuchhare. We trek further up to reach
Pothana. Here we stop 1.5 hours for lunch. From
Pothana the trail ascends to Deurali and then descends
through the forest of Bhichuk to reach Tolkha. Here,
the guide will arrange accommodation and dinner
in a teahouse. The trail offers dramatic views of
Machhapuchhare(6993m), Annapurnas, Lamjung, Manaslu(8157m)
and Dhaulagiri(8167m) Himalayan peaks. |
| Day 02: |
| Wake – up call usually given
at around 6 am. The breakfast is served around 7
a.m. The trek l starts at around 8 a.m. Initially
the trail descends via the village of Landrung to
Modi river - a permanent river formed from the glaciers
of Annapurnas. Here, we cross a suspension bridge
stop at Ghandrung besi for lunch. From thereon a
flight of stone steps ascends upwards to Ghandrung.
At Ghandrung the guide will allocate a teahouse
to arrange accommodation and dinner. |
| Day 03: |
| Once again the breakfast is
around 7 a.m. and the trek departure at around 8
a.m. The trail from Ghandrung descends downhill
via stone steps and terraced fields to Syaulibhatti,
where we stop for lunch. Then the route trails by
the side of Modi river and at times through forests
to reach Birethanti. Here, we cross a suspension
bridge to reach Nayapul. Thus, the trek ends. A
private transportation will be arranged for you
to take you to your hotel in Pokhara. The guide
will escort you till the hotel and check you in. |
LEISURELY ADVENTURES (GRADE
2)
These treks generally involve 5 to 6 hours walking
per day on average. Any active person can easily participate
on these trips and any reasonably fit person will find
them exhilarating. For preparation, we recommend a program
of sports or aerobic activities (cycling, swimming,
etc.) minimum of 2 to 4 weeks before departure. Remember
that the fitter you are, the more you'll enjoy the adventure.
